Transformation through Portraiture

Within the complicated facets of each one of our existences, there is a timeless, awesome substance which connects us with infinity. This fluid substance, the eternal feminine, lives within the inner heart of man, a tiny drop which in each individual unites him with the infinite ocean of existence – the universal soul, the timeless wonder which stretches from the beginning of time to each new born baby who every second takes birth into yet another earthly life. This soul, this sacred substance carried deep within the heart, may remain a mystery to its earthly carrier, or through sudden shock or meditation may be revealed as that which guides his destiny towards a hidden, perfect state of oneness with all that is and ever was.

For those who live in longing to find that mystery, to enter that secret place, there can be many avenues of enquiry in order to pierce the veils and draw them all asunder in order to reach that still, silent place within. The truth is all important and the capacity to know oneself an essential requirement. How to do this when a mind so powerful and clever seeks to elude the searcher’s efforts? It is simply not possible to purify one’s character without some help from other mortals; someone who can be trusted to pierce with love the qualities uniquely blended in each searching, wounded soul. Even one who sees a little better, who can reflect a different facet to integrate and grow within, can help immensely as a mirror to aid this subtle journey towards the truth, towards the soul.

A portrait, drawn or painted deeply can reveal so many things – a material reflection which, through the artists’ capacity to enter the rich, inner, unconscious world, can convey an image to shock or thrill us, making inroads to other realms. We may see portrayed before us an unknown person, a distant memory we once knew, or it may simply seem outrageous that this could form from the artist’s brush or pencil when we sat before her, enchanted by the chance, the hope to be seen. Who knows what will reveal itself – who knows what can be revealed? Perhaps a merging will take place, a transmission from heart to heart, leading the sitter through the doorway which leads to transformation. Certainly there will be an experience for artist and sitter as together they enter the unknown.

Portrait Sittings by appointment £20 per hour. All paintings can be mounted and framed at extra cost.
